Needless to say, I love colors. And like all dutiful children my kids have inherited the genes so well. One of the first few words my 18m old learnt was ‘Calos (colors)’. So we occasionally play with our set of paints and cherish them.
I have found out that finger paints are less mess than the brush & Paint and it also entails less fighting. Obviously the dot markers are lesser messy and the best of them all should be all those mess-free & magic-water-painting kits. Continue reading
I have always loved chocolate chip cookies. Ever since I remember. I would have them stocked up for my exams and devour them while being buried in books, the chocolate seemed to wash away the exam pressure – atleast temporarily. And well, this already seems eons ago.
Few weeks ago I was listening to this lecture by Mufti Menk and he mentioned something extra ordinary about Ayah 4 from Surah Yousuf.
إِذْ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَا أَبَتِ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوْكَبًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ لِي سَاجِدِينَ
[Of these stories mention] when Joseph said to his father, “O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me.”

My kids love to help me in the kitchen, the get to play with water, pretend they are cooking by stirring pulses in pots and they get to mix! and they love mixing and mixing! what an awesome feeling it must be for them.
Even my 20m old come over and ask if he can ‘hep’? (help) and when I ask how he responds ‘miks miks’ (mix! mix!). So this fine morning kids wanted to eat (read MAKE) pancakes and we gathered our basic ingredients to start working. (it yields almost 10 pancakes) Continue reading
